As one of Queensland’s strongest workplace, employment and safety practices, it will come as no surprise that you will be able to access highly complex advisory matters and disputes.
What may come as a pleasant surprise though is the approachability of the senior ranks; the three partners and their senior associate and special counsel ranks are highly accessible.
STRUCTURE / MATTERS
Two partners have employment and industrial relations profiles of repute. The third will allow access to some of the most topical safety investigations in the market. You can expect to get involved with;
- Large-scale EBA negotiations / renegotiations across resources, construction and government spaces (among others)
- Safety incident investigations and prosecutions – heavy industry, mining, construction
- Safety compliance advises; present directly to boards of some of QLD and Australia’s largest companies (with senior support)
- Employment and workplace litigation across superior courts and the commission
This is a high performance environment but not one that puts billables ahead of all else. The high uptake of flexible working conditions across this team is testament to the firm’s wider ethos of endeavouring to be a leader in this regard. There will be ample opportunity to impress and achieve SA conversion 1 Jan or latest EOFY 19/20.
You will bring at least four years’ post-admission experience in defendant workplace, IR, employment and / or safety law for a reputed practice. You will hold strong academics on your LLB.
